Video Transcript

Push-ups are excellent exercises to help you build strength and endurance in the muscles in your chest, back, shoulders, and arms—muscles you use every day to push, pull, lift, and carry.

Place your hands on the floor in a comfortable position, with your legs straight out behind you, feet together or up to 12 inches apart. Bend your elbows and lower your entire body until your arms are parallel to the ground. Exhale and push into the floor to raise your body back to the starting position. Repeat as many as you can do correctly.

Push-Up Tips

1)    When viewed from the side, your body should form a straight line from shoulders to ankles.
2)    Look forward rather than down at the floor as you do the push-up.
3)    Do not bend or arch your back as you push up to prevent injury.
