Guard Fit Challenge – Video: Inside the Exercise – Running

Five athletes are shown running on an outdoor track. A graphic transition is made to an introduction screen that says “Inside the Exercise: Running.”

Narrator – Voice Over: Running is one of the best exercises you can do to build your cardio-respiratory fitness, get in shape, and stay fit.

Athletes perform various stretches to loosen up by the track.

Narrator – Voice Over: There are some techniques you can adopt to help prevent injury and run at your maximum performance.

Video cuts to a single athlete, running on the track.

Narrator – Voice Over: First, be sure to keep your head up with your body in a straight line or slightly bent forward at the waist.

Camera focuses on the athlete’s upper body and pans out to show the full group of five athletes running on the track with an emphasis on showing the way in which the athlete’s arms remain relaxed and swinging naturally.

Narrator – Voice Over: Your elbows should stay bent so that your forearms are relaxed and held loosely at your waist. Let your arms swing naturally from front to back in straight lines. Moving your arms across your body wastes energy.

After focusing closely on the movement of an athlete demonstrating arm movement, the camera focuses on the lower leg and foot of the athlete to show the proper way for the foot to strike the ground while running.

Narrator – Voice Over: Finally, point your toes straight ahead, and let your feet strike on the heel and push off at the big toe.

All five athletes are again show running as the video concludes.

Narrator – Voice Over: Remember to pace yourself, and drink plenty of water after your run.

The video concludes with a graphic transition to a screen that says “Inside the Exercise Running.”
