Guard Fit Challenge – Video: Inside the Exercise—Overhead Press Alternate
Two athletes are shown, one at a time, performing overhead presses in a weight room. All are using a resistance band. An intro screen that says “Inside the Exercise: Overhead Press Alternate” appears, and then SGT Jeremy White—one of the athletes—begins a description of the exercise.
Jeremy: This is the alternate for the overhead press using a resistance band, and it’s great for when you’re traveling or if you don’t have access to the gym.
The video shifts to show SGT Courtney Zablocki performing the overhead press with a resistance band as Jeremy continues the explanation.
Jeremy: You want to step into the band, getting your feet shoulder-width apart. Get in a nice stable position. You want to bring your elbows up to a 90-degree position…and then you want to slowly press up and back down, keeping your hands over-locked, jut like you would in a normal overhead press, staying nice and controlled, focusing on the muscle that you’re trying to use. Minimize other muscles that you don’t want used. You don’t want any swing, just a nice stable position. ”
The video shifts again to show SGT Vikram Mittal performing the exercise until the video fades. The final screen contains the words “Inside the Exercise: Overhead Press Alternate.”
