Guard Fit Challenge – Video: Inside the Exercise – Leg Curl

An athlete is shown in a gym performing a leg curl in a weight machine designed specifically for the exercise. An intro screen that says “Inside the Exercise: Leg Curl” appears, and then the athlete, SGT Jeremy White, performs repetitions of the exercise and begins a description of the leg curl. Camera close-ups are used to demonstrate positioning of the body on the equipment.

Jeremy: This is the seated leg curl exercise…what you want to do is make sure your back is positioned correctly, that your pivot-point pad is right above your knee, right here and you want to hold on to the handles here, keep yourself braced and you want the lower pad, right there, just below the heel or just behind the heel. You want to control your breathing and have enough weight to do about 8 to 12 reps.

As Jeremy finishes speaking, the camera cuts to show SGT Vikram Mittal performing the leg curl exercise.

Vikram: The seated leg curls are an exercise that really helps out your hamstring muscles. And these are excellent muscles for when you’re climbing, for when you’re rucking and for when you’re running. So if you want to pass the APFT, it’s a great idea to do these….basically you just curl your legs downwards underneath you and then you return back to your starting position and repeat.

The final portion of the video shows SGT Ryan McDonald performing the leg curl using the weight machine until the final screen of the video. The final screen contains the words “Inside the Exercise: Leg Curl.”
