Guard Fit Challenge – Video: Inside the Exercise – Biceps Curl
Three athletes are shown, one at a time, doing the biceps curl exercise in a weight room. All three are using a barbell for this exercise. An intro screen that says “Inside the Exercise: Biceps Curl” appears. SPC Tim Bailey, one of the athletes, begins a description of the exercise while performing the biceps curl.
Tim: When you’re doing bicep curls, the first thing you want to do is make sure you have your feet in the proper position, which is shoulder-width apart. As you bend down to pick up the weight you want to slightly bend your knees, get a good underhand grip, and make sure your arms are tight to your side. The next thing you want to do is slightly go up, exhale is going down.
The camera cuts to SGT Courtney Zablocki performing the biceps curl while giving a description of what she is doing.
Courtney: Make sure that’s nice, smooth, and controlled because you don’t want to be rocking your body back and forth. You want to have it nice and controlled, the whole time. And make sure your core is engaged and your feet are shoulder-width apart and you’re breathing in and out.
The camera cuts to SGT Jeremy White performing the biceps curl.
Jeremy: And you want to have enough weight to do about 8 to 12 reps. I would recommend just going up a little bit higher end with the reps for good muscle endurance.
The camera cuts to Courtney, who continues to perform biceps curls until the final screen of the video. The final screen contains the words “Inside the Exercise: Biceps Curl.”
