Regular exercise is key to good health. It can help you feel better now and in the future; research shows that people who exercise regularly live longer and are healthier than sedentary people.
You don’t need to adopt the workout routine of an Olympian to see the benefits of exercise (but if you’re curious about what some of the nation’s top athletes do to stay fit, visit the Meet the Athletes section of this website). Talk to your doctor before starting a new fitness routine, choose an activity you enjoy doing, and don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results overnight.
The Guard Fit Challenge program offers a fitness routine built around the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) and exercises from the Army Field Manual 21-20. The proper form for each exercise is illustrated through videos and photos, with exercise tips from Soldier athletes.
